Step back into the retro era and embark on a mission to rescue the princess in the legendary classic, Super Mario Bros. Help Mario battle monsters and save the princess!

Super Mario Bros is an action-adventure game with a classic vibe that holds a special place in the childhood memories of many. The game's protagonist, Mario, with his iconic look, takes players on a journey to rescue the princess while facing off against relentless waves of monsters.

How to play Super Mario Bros

  • Collect mushrooms: The magical mushrooms in Super Mario Bros transform the protagonist into an adult version with significantly increased power. These are hidden inside ordinary-looking bricks; find them by bumping into the bricks, then consume the mushroom to gain the ability to easily jump onto high platforms and pipes or leap across wide gaps.
  • Defeat enemies: Press the 'W' key or the Up arrow key to jump onto enemies' heads and eliminate them. While squid-like monsters are relatively easy to defeat, be cautious of the turtle monsters. In later worlds, enemies become increasingly difficult to handle, especially the winged turtles or the fire-breathing, spiked-shell turtles.
  • Conquer the worlds: Each level concludes when you reach the end of the path, lower the flag, and enter the castle gate. New worlds bring more dangerous obstacles and monsters, requiring greater skill. For instance, while World 1-1 takes place on the surface with basic enemies, World 4-4 plunges the character into an underground realm filled with boiling lava, laser beams, and tougher adversaries.

Controls

  • WASD / Arrow keys: Move
  • Ctrl/Shift: Fire or sprint
  • P key: Pause game
  • M key: Mute music

Super Mario Bros Strategy

  • Time your jumps: Land precisely on enemies' heads to defeat them. Your jumping distance varies depending on Mario's size. Avoid falling into pits by jumping too early or getting too close to enemies.
  • Collect mushrooms: A powered-up Mario has greater combat capabilities. Try to collect mushrooms to make challenges a bit easier.
Don't try to get every coin: A common mistake players make is trying to collect every single coin or flower. Don't do this. Prioritize completing the level and unlocking new worlds instead of backtracking to grab every coin and risking a life.
  • Turn off the music: The Super Mario Bros soundtrack is iconic and synonymous with the character and the game itself. However, to focus better on the platforming, try turning off the music occasionally and concentrating on the characters' movements.
